Boy Scout Bicycle Trip checklist

Required items:

• Bicycle  - Complete the bicycle safety checklist before you leave home
• Helmet - BSA requires all riders wear approved helmets
• Water bottle

Recommended items:

• Spare inner tube for your tire size
  and/or
• Bicycle tire patch kit
• Pump for your valve type (check Schrader or Presta)

Optional items:

• Lights/reflectors if you may travel in the dark
• Bicycle Rack and bungee cords/rope for carrying items (preferred)
  or
• Backpack (can be uncomfortable on long rides and cause poor balance)
• Bicycle Panniers/Saddlebags
• Bicycling Shorts
• Bicycling Gloves
• Sunglasses (to protect eyes from bugs/dust/low branches/stone chips as well as sun)
• Sunscreen
• Rain gear
• Bike lock and key
• First aid kit
• Bicycle tools

Camp sites are found along the trail, for example the River’s Edge Campground, which gives discounts to trail campers.
